Note from our President

Winter 2009-2010
Greetings to all,
This will be my first attempt with a president’s message. First of all, I want to thank everyone for your support during the recent elections. Secondly, I would like to thank Ken Thomas, Mel Frandsen, Jim & Vali Suddarth, and the other advisors and volunteers for all the hard work that each of them performed over the past several years.
Moving forward from a leadership status Brent Skidmore will act as Vice President with Janet Hunter as secretary/treasurer. Janet is and has been one who has given of herself for several years, thank you for accepting another term. Bruce Olsen (founding member) has stepped up and will assist in an advisory role along with Heidi Sutton acting as our Web manager. Also Vali Suddarth will be assisting with special projects. I want to thank each of them for being willing to assist each of us as we try to grow, educate, and support the membership of the club.
The horse industry faces many challenges, and our small little group is not immune from many of these. As a breeder, we all face the decision; do I continue to breed for foals when the market for those foals was not what it once was? Of course that’s a personal decision each of us has to decide upon. The costs of feed, vet care, training, and other costs continue to challenge us all.
We will be using our website to better communicate with our members. If you have not been on it recently check it out. Vali has added some nice video footage for you to enjoy. One of our main objectives over the next few months will be to grow our membership. We need each one of you to help us with this challenge. I would like to see a wave of new members that might be new and “younger” than a few of us. We all sell horses to folks and we need to get them involved in our organization. So, when we do sell a horse let’s offer up a membership to those buyers. Invite those that you know to join in as well.
Well as I sit here looking out at the snow covered ground here in the Rocky Mountains, spring can’t get here fast enough. If you are expecting foals of course the next few weeks just drag on and on. I hope all is well with each of you and that we will all be blessed with nice spring foaling weather.
My God bless us all.
Regards,
Gary Gray
